Refund & Cancellation Policy

Free Trial

All new RootMap subscriptions begin with a 7-day free trial. During the trial period, you have full access to all premium features. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Account Billing page or by contacting us. When you cancel:

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period.
  • You will not be charged for subsequent billing periods.
  • Your data remains accessible and you retain view-only access to your trees.
  • Premium features (AI narratives, globe view, etc.) will be disabled after the billing period ends.

Refunds

We generally do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. However, we understand that circumstances vary. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please contact us at support@rootmap.app within 14 days of your charge, and we will review your request on a case-by-case basis.

Plan Changes

You can switch between monthly and yearly plans at any time. When upgrading to a yearly plan, you will be credited for the remaining time on your monthly plan. When downgrading, the change takes effect at the end of your current yearly billing period.

Data After Cancellation

If you cancel your subscription, your family tree data, photos, and stories are retained and remain accessible in view-only mode. If you delete your account entirely, your data will be permanently removed after a 30-day grace period.
